Excellent drive (2009-07-02)
I have installed this drive in my D-Link Router DIR-655 USB share port using a USB hub to have both the WD hard drive and my printer shared across my home network. It works perfectly, it is a lot faster than my old external drive.
amazing (2009-07-02)
One day my friend got a new hard drive for his MacBook and after installing it we had no way to get the data off his old drive. But after some quick thinking we decided to take my own 320 gb Western Digital Passport apart and stick in his old drive so that we could get the data off it. By taking it apart, we got a look at just how high the build quality is--The outer casing is purposefully built "bent" so that it snugs up against the middle section better. The hard drive is in a metal sled which is suspended in the center of the enclosure by rubber form fitting attachments. The whole thing just feels upliftingly sturdy and elegant and makes me feel very confident about the safety of my files. I give it a five out of five stars because it is clearly a fine piece of equipment.
Very Convenient (2009-07-02)
This drive is absolutely tiny. I needed something that I could travel with on planes, and this fits the bill nicely. (Lugging my full-sized externals was getting cumbersome) It's as easy to use as any other WD external HDD; just plug it in and you're good to go. I never bother with the junk software they bundle.
2 caveats: a. The included USB cord is very short. It's perhaps a foot long. Not a big deal, but it's pretty useless. b. The drive has zero ventilation. I left it plugged in for 2 hours the other day, and the drive was noticeably warm to the touch. I'm not sure how this will affect the lifespan of the HDD. Only time will tell.
For now, I'm very pleased with this HDD.
Excellent hard drive - very handy (2009-07-01)
This has been an excellent portable drive. The single cable that powers off the USB makes it the best. It's size is just right. Highly recommended.
Fantastic HD (2009-06-30)
This hard drive is fantastic. I had a 120 GB version before it and it has worked just as well. I don't use the software, I just reformat and use it as extra storage and it is really fast and reliable. I had a Toshiba that after a few months began to stutter and slow down when transferring files. This WD drive has been terrific.
